Why is DC replacing public trash cans? Hint: It has to do with rats
Councilmember Henderson introduced a bill in March to allocate budget funds to replace public open-lid containers in high traffic areas with rodent resistant ones. Last Tuesday, councilmembers approved language in the Budget Support Act directing DC's Department of General Services to include rodent-resistant trash and recycling containers as part of all newly renovated facilities managed by DC Public Schools (DCPS) or the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR).
